Uber job openings up 73% since new year, international expansion now into 43 countries
Car sharing pioneer Uber ($UBER) has its hands in many businesses aside from the more straightforward taxi model. It's a food-delivery service called Uber Eats in some cities. It's working on autonomous vehicles. It's working on ride-sharing flying cars. Uber is so ubiquitous that it's become an adjective: Nary a day goes by without a new startup hailed as the "Uber of" an industry.
As the company continues to expand and diversify, it's been actively hiring, with job openings up a massive 73% since the new year.
Uber is also very expanding internationally. According to open job listings data that we track, Uber is now hiring in 43 countries. The map below shows where.
Just last week, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi (who Uber employees love) told CNBC that the company is on track to go public in 2019, saying that the company is in a "good position" when it comes to profitability. Uber is in talks with Warren Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway for the IPO, which appears to be on schedule for late 2019.
