Is Tinder's hotness cooling off? User ranks have dipped since July

1 week ago by Joshua Fruhlinger in Facts, Trends

After a strong summer, Tinder ($NASDAQ:MTCH) appears to be on a bit of a decline as we head into winter.

In July, Tinder was the second-most used app via Facebook login. As of today, it's slipped to spot #10. While that still puts it ahead of usage monsters Candy Crush Soda Saga ($NASDAQ:ATVI) and Uber ($UBER), it does show a downward trend that — so far — is unusual for America's most-popular dating app.

As of today, rival Bumble is ranked #95 when it comes to monthly active users. While that's still a good ways off from dethroning Tinder as the most-popular dating app via Facebook login, Bumble's usage has been steady and, according to overall ranks, isn't too far behind.

In the past, the cooler "cuffing season" has been good for dating apps, so it's possible that this recent sag for Tinder is simply a pause for the holidays. We'll keep an eye on it as usual.
