These will be the first 13 employees hired by Elon Musk's Neuralink

4 months ago by Joshua Fruhlinger in Innovation, People

Elon Musk, conjurer of electric vehicles and missions to mars, has been itching to develop a brain-computer interface for some time, calling it the next most important advancement in human-computer interaction.

This week, he put his money where his mouth is with the launch of Neuralink ($NEURALINK), a company that is "developing high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and machines."

As sci-fi and outlandish as that sounds, the company is already busy hiring its first 13 employees, and we're already tracking that data. As of day one, here is what the company is hiring for, and where:

Given that the company is in its pre-infancy stage, the first set of job openings at Neuralink are focused on what is likely the toughest task ahead: engineering and designing a product that will do what Musk says it will do. Of the first 13 Neuralink jobs, 8 are slated for Engineering and another 5 are for Operations.

According to LinkedIn profile data, which we also track, 20 people have already claimed Neuralink as their employer, some of whom are listed as Talent Acquisition. Other professionals include a Neurosurgeon, Software Engineer, and Professor of Physics.

As the company ramps up, we expect to see new job listings focused on design and, eventually, marketing and sales when (and if) a product hits the market. We'll keep our eyes (and brains) on it.

Until then, watch the company's launch announcement below.
