Top-20 most-used apps via Facebook in April

2 weeks ago by Joshua Fruhlinger in Facts

Facebook Login has become the default way of signing in to an app. It's used more than Google Login or any other SSO (Single Sign-On) system as a convenient way to do something as simple as sign in to a game. But it's also the subject of a massive privacy controversy — the data that was used by Cambridge Analytica to manipulate public opinion in 2016 was harvested when unwitting people agreed to share their data with apps via Facebook ($NASDAQ:FB).

So were Facebook logins down in April? Not in the least bit, according to our data. In fact, the convenience of a simple sign-in process continued to be the most-popular way to access an app, get things done, find a match, play a round of Candy Crush, post a picture, plan a trip, watch some videos, or read some reviews.

So what were people logging into last month via Facebook? Here are the top-20 apps that were used via Facebook login along with their average daily usage ranks throughought the month.

With an average daily rank of just 3.5, Pinterest ($PINTEREST) was the most-logged-into app via Facebook in April. The San Francisco-based "discovery platform" app and website has over 175 million active users and, according to Alexa, is the 67th most-popular website in the world.

Spotify ($NYSE:SPOT), the massively popular Swedish music streaming service that went public in April, was the second-most logged-into app via Facebook in that same month with an average daily rank of 5.5. Spotify claims more than 75 million paying users and 170 million users overall.

The third-most used app via Facebook shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who's observed what people are doing on their smartphones. With an average rank of 6.6, Candy Crush saga continued to mesmorize players in April. Owned by Activision Blizzard ($NASDAQ:ATVI), Candy Crush Saga has been downloaded a whopping 2.7 billion times.
