MacBook Pros for $500 and iPads for $149: Walmart and BestBuy's crazy Apple refurb markets

6 months ago by Joshua Fruhlinger in Facts

Ask anyone what he thinks of Apple products and he'll mention things like “quality”, “expensive”, and “designed”. Rarely do you hear Apple products described as “cheap” or “poor quality”.

But as we’ve proven before, not all Apple products for sale are new, shiny, and expensive. In fact, there are deals to be had as Apple clears out inventory and retailers get their hands on refurbished-but-still-good products. Perhaps most interestinly, it's a healthy profit center for resellers who are always looking for ways to increase margins. The relatively long-life of Apple products when compared to comparable PC products also makes buying used a pretty safe bet.

So with that all saiod, here are some of the most heavily-discounted Apple products you can find today. Disclaimer: We do not include affiliate information in our links and we do not collect money on referrals to retailers.

Keep in mind that prices change, as do inventory levels - so if the price or availability has changed, we're sorry. Good deals go fast.

62.5% off retail: Refurbished Apple MacBook Pro 13.3”
This MacBook Pro may not be the latest, but it packs a punch, and for just $449 as of publishing, it tops our discounted Apple products list at a hefty 62.5% price break. It doesn’t have a Retina display, but it does include 2 USB ports, something the latest MacBook Pro lacks. And for under $500, who’s complaining?

60% off retail: Beats by Dr. Dre - Geek Squad Certified Refurbished BeatsX Earphones - Gray
We won’t go into whether or not Beats Headphones (now owned by Apple) are worth the hefty price they demand, but when they’re on sale like these ones are, who cares? At just $49 via BestBuy, these wireless earphones are normally $149, so for the price WalMart is letting them go at, they’re worth a spin.

57% off retail: Refurbished Apple MacBook Air 11.6" MD711LL/A i5-4250U Dual-Core 1.3GHz 4GB 128GB SSD Laptop
If you’ve ever had the pleasure of carrying around a diminutive MacBook Air, you’d know that grabbing one for less than $500 - regardless of the year it originally came out - is a steal. This 11-inch model includes a solid-state drive, WiFi, FaceTime HD Camera, and a real keyboard (unlike the short-throw monstrosities Apple includes in its latest laptops).

49% off retail: Apple iPad with Retina display 64GB Wi-Fi + AT&T Refurbished, (Black or White)
If you’ve been holding off for an iPad, this is a good one to grab. It connects to both WiFi and AT&T networks, has the super-detailed Retina Display, and is available in both white and black. It’s a work horse.

45% off retail: Apple iPad mini 32GB Wi-Fi (Black or White) Refurbished
If the standard-size iPad is too big for you, or if grabbing an iPad for just $149 is too good to pass up, this is a great deal. It’ll connect to WiFi networks, includes a camera, and the whole unit - while small enough to be held in one hand - still sports a sizable 7.9-inch display.
