Apple, the Trillion-Dollar Company: What it sells, who it hires, what its employees think

Apple ($NASDAQ:AAPL) has become the first public company in the world to be valued at one trillion dollars, beating its nearest rival Amazon.

Shares in the tech giant hit $207.05 after a strong quarterly report was released a few days ago.

Apple had higher-than-expected sales the iPhone, with 41-million units sold in the third quarter of 2018.

“Our Q3 results were driven by continued strong sales of iPhone, Services and Wearables, and we are very excited about the products and services in our pipeline” said Tim Cook, Apple CEO in a press release.

Looking at the-best sales-ranked Apple products using Thinknum data backs this up.

Top-selling products in the last quarter included Beats Wireless On-Ear Headphones, but the best-selling Apple handset was the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

The above table represents top-ranked Apple items across multiple vendors, ranked by their average sales ranks for those respective vendors. Thinknum subscribers can see the complete list here.

Looking at hiring data, the number of positions Apple is looking to fill is up almost 25% from this time last year with an additional thousand listings.

Although hiring appears to have cooled off slightly in the last two months, just over two thousand of Apple's job listings are in search of new engineers. This is likely indicative of Apple looking to capitalise on its recent run of solid growth and expand its research and development.

In terms of current employees, Apple has almost 14,000 more employees reoprting to work for the tech giant than it did in August 2017.

Looking at Glassdoor metrics, Apple has maintained a consistently high score since August 2017.

The high scores continue looking at employee business outlooks, with 70% of Apple employees having a positive outlook on the future of the tech giant.

However when values are adjusted to allow for inflation, many US companies, including General Electric and rival Microsoft have previously been valued at more than Apple is today - but things certainly look positive for the California-based tech giant's future.
